Overview
The purpose of a Job Site Inspection Program is to provide the design and construction community as well as the Arizona Masonry Council members with an independent third party opinion as to whether or not the masonry materials and/or workmanship meet applicable Building Codes, Specifications and industry standards such as:
- ACI 530 Building Code Requirements for Masonry Structures
- ACI 530.1 Specification for Masonry Structures
- ASTM C 90 Standard Specification for Loadbearing Concrete Masonry Units
- Arizona Masonry Guild’s Standard 107 Levels of Quality (AMG STD 107)
For example, the physical requirements (dimensional tolerances, minimum face shell and web thicknesses, etc.) for load-bearing concrete masonry units is prescribed in ASTM C 90. Construction/site tolerances (mortar joint thickness, variation from level, variation from plumb, etc.) for masonry structures are outlined in ACI 530.1. These documents serve as the basis on which the Job Site Inspection Team will use for the review. Any issue not related to materials or workmanship that is not specifically addressed by the above-referenced documents is considered not to fall within the scope of AMC’s Job Site Inspection Program.
