We’re almost six months into this pandemic, everyone raise your hands if you too are ‘over’ this!! Or should I say that differently, who is over ‘VIRTUAL’ ANYTHING!!
I say this with tongue-in-cheek as I know and I am sure all of you know, that what is most important is that we are all staying safe and healthy through these times. As an association, one of the best things we offer is great networking opportunities which have become a thing of the past. During these uncertain times, we have all had to make changes and decisions for the better of our people and industry, the following events are just three of those events the AMC Board had to make tough decisions on.
2020 Excellence in Masonry Architectural Awards Banquet – It is a go!
We are moving forward with this exciting event; the banquet will be held Friday, October 30. We had more award-winning entries this year than the past five years and we do not want to lose the excitement of honoring our architects, engineers, contractors and suppliers, so we have decided to forge ahead.
This year’s event may look a little different, but rest assured we will make it an exciting night for all our members and the winners! We expect a refreshing time for our industry to network safely and in accordance with CDC guidelines. Please look for more details in the next week or so as we start to roll out the red carpet.
2020 Fastest Trowel Competition and Masonry Skills Challenge Event – Postponed
We will be postponing the Fastest Trowel Competition and the Masonry Skills Challenge event until 2021. This event thrives on industry involvement, competitor and audience participation, with the CDC guidelines currently in place, this event would be forced to go virtual and would lose a lot of the excitement that goes along with it.
Because of all the uncertainties today, the AMC Board of Directors decided it was in the Council’s best interest to postpone for this year.
2020 AMC Annual Membership Meeting – Postponed
This is event is all about members networking with members. And I think everyone would agree CDC guidelines would make this event virtually impossible. Pun intended! We have postponed this meeting but will still be meeting at Topgolf in early 2021.
The silver lining may not be apparent until we have the benefit of hindsight, but I know it is there!
